‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus…

Trust for others is something that doesn’t always come easy. We may have been burned in the past by trusting someone, or suffered the consequences from even trusting in ourselves.

The Lord has been working on me for a while on just simply trusting in Him to do what only He can do. It occurred to me one day that even though I may sing of trusting in Him completely, not all my actions showed I trusted in Him completely. Why do I hold on to what little control I think I have about any situation in life?  Yes, I am in control of decisions that I can make, but only through prayer first should I make them. I’m talking about the type of control we try to have over our money, what house we live in, the car we drive, the food we eat, even the clothes we wear, anything that is a part of our life and consumes our thoughts. How do we get to that place where our minds aren’t spinning, our insides not knotted up with anxiety, our demeanor not brought down by all the chaos?...

One passage of scripture that reminds me to just let it go is found in Matthew 6: 25-34. Jesus is teaching about not worrying, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body; what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow.  They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ Foe the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

WOW! How insignificant most things seem now. I’ve found that the Lord will lead me to a scripture I’ve read a hundred times before and it still speaks to me as strongly, if not stronger at times, as the first time. Just a few key words in there ring in my mind...that my heavenly Father knows what I have NEED of, he knows our wants too, but He’s more concerned with the NEED. Oh, that I would only be concerned with the need in my life, all else would fall away! We get so caught up sometimes in life that we think it’s all a need. Thank you Lord for supplying our needs and help us to be more trusting of you with our lives. Amen

True LOVE...

Being the season of LOVE, this seems like the appropriate time to think about just how truly loved one each of us are.

Jesus teaches us,"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16, NIV

God, being so in love with us, already planned for us to live eternally with Him before we were born and had a chance to sin against Him. 

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23, NIV

He looks at us all the same whether we were brought up knowing him or not.  He loves us all the same.  What an awesome feeling to know he has always loved us this much...even before we knew him!  Who here can say they have always loved someone unconditionally?  We may want to or think we have but truth be told, we as fleshy humans cannot demonstrate this kind of love without flaws.

Unconditional love, true love, is only attainable through Christ Jesus. He can help us to have this unconditional love for our loved ones,  but it doesn't always come naturally.  And that is toward the ones he's already placed in our lives.  Christ died for those who never even knew him and those who may never even know him now.  Can you imagine loving every single person enough,  no matter who they are, to follow the Fathers' plan and lay your life on the cross to save them from eternal life in Hell?

What a merciful and loving God and Savior we serve!

Take a moment now to just thank the Lord for putting your life before His own and loving you enough to do the Fathers' will for your salvation.
